On Friday, August 21, three important guests honoured Pipistrel with their visit.

Mrs. Dominique Gisin is a former World Cup alpine ski racer and an Olympic gold medalist from Switzerland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominique_Gisin
Through March 2014, Gisin assembled 3 World Cup victories, 7 podiums and 42 top ten finishes. At the Winter Olympics in 2014, Mrs. Gisin tied for first place in the downhill with Tina Maze and they were both awarded gold medals.

Away from skiing, Gisin is also a pilot; she learned to fly as a teenager and holds a CPL with IR since last October. She holds a degree in physics from the University ETH in Zurich. Her private website has the following address: https://dominiquegisin.ch/

The other visiting lady was Tina Maze. I don’t think I need to introduce her specifically – we all know the most successful skier in Slovenian history. The highlight of her career are four Olympic medals, two of them gold; 26 World Cup victories (she is one of only three skiers in the world to have collected victories in all five disciplines in a single season); in 2011 she was the World champion in giant slalom, and in the 2012/13 season she became the overall winner of the World Cup. She also holds the record for the highest number of World Cup points in one season (2414 points) and the highest number of podiums in one season (24). She was named the Slovenian Sportswoman of the year, 6 times. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tina_Maze

The two ladies were joined by Mr. Andrea Massi, a long-time coach and partner of Tina Maze, and a friend of Pipistrel’s director Ivo Boscarol.

Mrs. Dominique Gisin is not only a very successful skier, she is also a great pilot. She arrived by a plane which she piloted herself – and of course couldn’t help but try Pipistrel’s Velis Electro, the world’s first Type-certified fully electric aircraft.

Mrs. Gisin holds the role of an ambassador of the Swiss Aeroclub: http://www.aeroclub.ch/ . She is very enthusiastic about electric aviation and she also recently took over the role of an ambassador for the event »ElectriFly-In« (former Smartflyer-Challenge) http://electrifly-in.ch/de/mission-2/.  You can meet her at the Electrifly-In eTrophy & Symposium in Grenchen Motorfluggruppe training room, Switzerland,  on Saturday 12th or Sunday 13th September 2020, between 10:30 and 12:30 hrs.

At the Symposium, Pipistrel Velis Electro and its amazing achievement will be introduced: World record flight from the Alps to the North Sea (Germany), purely on electric.

You are most welcome to join the event and get to know the Velis Electro and several other electric planes.
